Neuro Active, LLC is partnering with Mt. Olive Family Medicine to provide concussion education and testing for community members who participate in sports.   The rate of sport-related concussion has grown steadily over the past 20 years.  Whether a baseline assessment, or post-injury, Neuro Active clinicians administer a multidimensional assessment of neurologic health to assist physicians in the diagnosis and management of concussion. We also provide education to parents, community members, and healthcare providers on the latest evidence regarding prevention and treatment of concussion.

Concussion:  A concussion is a type of traumatic brain injury that is caused by a blow to the head, a fall, or injury that jars the brain inside the skull. Effects are usually temporary but can include headaches and problems with concentration, memory, balance and even changes in emotion or attitude.

Baseline Testing

Results from a baseline test can be used if a patient is suspected of having a concussion. Upon injury, the patient can be compared to himself or herself and quantitative assessment can assist the physician in making return-to-play and return-to-learn decisions.

Post Concussion Testing

After a sport-related head injury, an in-office appointment can be made. A history, assessment of symptoms and series of multidimensional tests will be administered.  The assessments are not diagnostic, but are meant to guide our providers as they lead the patient through the recovery process.
